At the beginning of the last decade, Turkey’s Batu Çetin also appeared in the funeral with his solo project Womb Of Decay; Batu’s is a very active figure within the national metal scene, not only because of his presence in a variety of bands, including the historic Cenotaph and the notable Grotesque Ceremonium, but also because of his front-line involvement in band promotion, particularly with regard to live performances. Descent into Obscure Nihilism is Çetin’s only album released under this moniker and it is evident from the first notes how the sound is heavily influenced by the Ankara musician’s death background. Çetin’s one with Womb Of Decay is a half-successful experiment and it is no coincidence that it will be shelved after this isolated episode in favor of other, more familiar brutal death projects.
