From New York comes Auaesuve, a project started by Julius Clark in the mid-2000s with an avowedly amateur approach and then developed into the full length Displaced and Uncharted, which is also the last musical testimony fired under this moniker. A pity, because despite the persistence of a somewhat naïve approach to the subject matter, the New York boy’s musical sensibility manifests itself in surprising ways at times over the course of this album, particularly in the opening track made poignant by melodic, dilated guitar work. In its continuation the sound tends to tighten up, partly recovering that ambient drone heritage much more manifest in the previously released demos but this, while naturally making the assimilation of the musical content more difficult, keeps intact the good intensity and, I would add, the spontaneity exhibited up to that point.
