Dejected Mass from Mannheim are another one of those bands that slow down their sludge to the point of landing in territories common to funeral doom. Christian Nann and Frank Kron have published two demos before the full length Dirge: the album is a slow ride between slaughtered bodies and miasma and the outcome turns out to be excellent for the clarity of the general design, even in its extreme nature. Dirge appears at the same time disturbing and fascinating, as befits the works of thickness: heavy grooves wallow free in our ears with a cut rarely reproduced in recent years perhaps because of productions too clean.
