Into The Void Of Human Vacuity by Wastes is very convincing, not only because Laurent Chaulet’s help is given by some important guests such as Nemri from Monarch (drums), Frédéric Patte-Brasseur and Julien Payan from Ataraxie (guitars) and Kostas Panagiotou (keyboards). Of course, the participation of musicians of a certain thickness can somehow contribute to be known and to give the impression that their having bothered is symptomatic of something important to say, but it goes without saying that Chaulet, in turn, is not exactly an unknown being active with the excellent Mourning Dawn since the beginning of the century. The work is decidedly robust, as befits someone who is helped by members of Ataraxie and who has a past in Funeralium, although having been part of it in a period (from 2008 to 2010) in which the band from Rouen did not release any record; for a funeral album, Into The Void Of Human Vacuity is definitely lively, thanks also to a remarkable percussive work that too often in the slowest of extreme genres is relegated to a marginal role. The seven tracks numbered in progressive order are powerful but not without a melodic idea, supported by a good growl and in short with nothing out of place, everything is needed to make the first effort of Wastes a work of a certain thickness but still not enough to undermine the positions of the leading names in the industry.
