The Game, released in 2017, represents a further step forward from the compositional point of view for Vahe Soghomonyan and his Sadael, as it is the work that reaches the ideal synthesis between funeral and death doom, taking from the first the sorrowful and mournful pace, with its enveloping textures and poignant melodies, and from the second a certain robustness, even rhythmic. It’s enough to listen to the opener In Dreamstate Realm to have confirmation of the consolidation of a sound already of high quality in the past, but made impeccable in this occasion.
