Las Casas Viejas is a new Austrian-German band formed with the intent to offer a new and personal vision of all that pertains to the darkest and most melancholic music. The chosen medium is a successful mix of black, doom and ambient that, skillfully shaken, gives rise to a form of post metal definitely evocative as elaborate, allowing the group to hit the target with apparent ease. The merit of Las Casas Viejas is to keep alive a certain tension even when the passages are apparently interlocutors, before letting the post-hardcore outbursts raise further the level. Undoubtedly, the musical proposal contained in Ghoule/H is not particularly winking nor melodic, in its alternation between rarefied passages, dissonances and accelerations, and the alternation of the double female voice, both as clean and scream: for this reason the disc needs more steps to be fully appreciated. Having said that the work of Las Casas Viejas is appreciated not a little, it seems quite clear that the best moments are revealed when it is privileged a kind of song form, however oblique as in Kein Ort 1: Nicht Die Stadt Und Lethargie and Erinnerung; very intense also the opener Moribundus, with the recited able to produce a certain pathos, but in general the five long songs are worth a listening that should be rewarding for those looking for some news in the post metal field.
