From the always rich and cosmopolitan quiver of Transcending Obscurity, here come also the Australians Greytomb, authors of this ep that goes to seal the good things already shown with the debut full length of 2016, A Perpetual Descent. The trio from Melbourne offers a convincing test that goes to embrace with ductility and awareness the different nuances of extreme metal, starting from a black base but with an introspective nature that oscillates between doom and post metal and some dissonance referable to progressive death. What comes out are three tracks that develop for about twenty-five minutes corrosive, intense and multifaceted, with an episode from the uncommon emotional crescendo as Antimeta that goes with its desperate final until DSBM; the song is enclosed between the long and more restless Null and a Force Majeure that shows how Greytomb have great familiarity with the material even when they descend on the ground of the darkest and dullest post black. Monumental Microcosm is a short work but able to hit the mark, creating a certain expectation for what will be the next moves of the Australian band.
