Eirð is the solo project of German Andreas Libera (formerly with Spirit Descent), author since 2014 so far of a consistent number of releases in the form of demos or singles, and arrived at the end of last year to the first full length entitled Cosmos One – The (Un)known Universe. This long work is quite illustrative of the musical style put in place by the musician from Lübeck, namely a post metal doom with a melodic and cosmic breath, as can be easily guessed also from the title; the instrumental nature of the work leads us to a choice that is not dissimilar from certain forms of ambient, with the difference that the sound appears more rhythmic, arriving also to more sensitive accelerations as in A Dance Of Cosmic Objects or in the final of Dark Matter, finding however in my opinion a greater focus in the final Deep Space Omega, in which Libera expresses the best of his musical ideas pushing them up to a form closer to ambient. The music branded Eirð can be attractive for those who appreciate these sounds aimed to immerse us in the immensity of the universe, a solution not new but always appreciated, especially when offered with the competence demonstrated at this juncture. To conclude, we point out that shortly after the release of the full length was put on the market, always by Loneravn Records, Cosmos Two – Earth and Beyond (2014-2016), an output that collects material published in the first phase of life of the project and, as such, useful as a retrospective synthesis of the compositional effort implemented in those years by Libera.
