Rich Staats is a musician from Phoenix who has been quite active in recent years, participating in several projects related to extreme metal. Into Apathy, among these, is a completely solo matrix and is dedicated to a form of gothic death doom of good workmanship whose debut is the ep Oceans of Sorrow, a work that actually contains three actual songs, since two others are instrumental versions of the title track and Hollow Existence. Despite the objective brevity of the work the cues shown are suggestive of a good talent for the genre, both when Staats explores the darker side with the opening track and when it launches into a more catchy but not trivial gothic matrix novantiana. Still not enough to express definitive judgements but enough to put the work of the good Rich on the radar.
