Swiss band Abraham show us the most merciless and fiery side of post metal, the one without frills and often bordering on post-hardcore. At least this is what happens in this latest full length Débris de mondes perdus, the fourth in a little over ten years of activity; the album conceptually follows the previous Look, Here Comes the Dark!, in which were told the various stages of the end of life on earth, while on this occasion the concept focuses on the few survivors, struggling with a daily battle to avoid succumbing. Hoping that the band from Lausanne has not been prophetic using such themes already four years ago, given the current situation on the Eastern European front, at the musical level all the anger and despair are expressed without any particular mediation, thanks to the exasperated scream of drummer Dave Schlagmeister, incessant singer of post-apocalyptic scenarios overhung by a rough but not chaotic sound wall. Works like this live on a spasmodic intensity that rarely leaves you breathless, except in the very last track Black Breath, where a female voice also appears. Abraham‘s new album is just what is needed to satisfy the appetite of fans of the most abrasive post metal.
