Grief Circle‘s debut release demonstrates how the interpretation of sludge doom post metal lends itself to various variations on the theme without losing the common thread of the proposal; the Polish band, during six tracks of full-bodied duration, oscillates skilfully between stoner pulses and caressing rarefactions, rocky heavinesses and sudden melodic impulses. All in all, the opener Cursed is the most straightforward track, more than the subsequent ones in which sometimes opposing sensations chase each other and overlap, always leaving the listener with the pleasure of discovering which path will be taken in the continuation. Grief Circle, on the other hand, are experienced musicians and this is evident from the very first notes that make it clear how Weightless is a rather polished and at the same time inspired work; the versatile vocal interpretation of K (Rafał Kwaśny) of the notable Moanaa does the rest, helping to keep always high the tension in a really fullfilling album.
