Not always in the post-metal/post-rock sphere do entirely instrumental offerings manage to be incisive precisely because of their particular conformation; fortunately, this is not the case with the latest work by Ddent, a project led by Frenchman Louis Lambert. This ep entitled Ex Auditu proves to be pleasant from the first to the last note and, above all, succeeds in being very engaging by virtue of a melodic nature and a rather melancholic aftertaste that lend emphasis and emotionality to the three carrier tracks (plus a short intro). If instrumental post-metal is to be, this is certainly the ideal way to escape all forms of mannerism and the sterile repetition of sounds that may be pleasant at first but leave little impression in the long term. After several listenings, this does not happen to what is offered by the good Parisian musician (who under the moniker Ddent has been active since 2014, with a discography that includes another ep and three full lengths), certainly endowed with a compositional sensitivity that should not be overlooked.
